Cairo Opera House

Located in the affluent Zamalek district, the Cairo Opera House was established in 1988 and serves as a hub for musical and artistic talent from all over the country. The relatively new complex was constructed to replace Cairo’s 19th century Khedivial Opera House, which burned down in 1971. The Cairo Opera House complex houses seven theaters, two of which operate as satellite theaters in the coastal city of Alexandria, an art gallery, a museum, and a music library.
